You stay in control

Your permissions

The app acts as the person who connected it. It sees only rooms and messages that person can see, and the read commands are limited to Workspace admins and Paying.co staff. Client contacts can post but not read back.

Clients protected

In a room with clients, every post must be marked shared or team only. The app is instructed to ask you when you have not said, so nothing reaches a client by accident.

Metadata for files

Files are listed by name, type, size and uploader. Their contents are never sent to the AI app.

Limits and audit

Every command has per-minute and per-hour limits, and each call is recorded in an audit log.

Questions

MCP server FAQ

What is the roomwork MCP server?
It is a remote Model Context Protocol server at https://roomwork.co/mcp. It lets an MCP app such as Claude list the rooms you can use, read recent messages and file names, and post messages, all as you and within your permissions.
Which commands does it support?
Five: list_rooms, send_message, list_messages, read_message and list_files. The three read commands are offered to Workspace admins and Paying.co staff only.
How do I sign in?
Roomwork uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE. Add the server address in your AI app, then approve the connection on the roomwork sign-in page that opens. You never paste a password or a key into the AI app.
Who do messages appear from?
Messages posted through MCP appear under the name of the person who connected the app, in the room you choose.
Can an AI app message my clients by accident?
No. When a room includes clients, send_message requires an audience of shared (clients can see it) or team (team only), and the app is told to ask you if you have not said.
Can it read file contents?
No. list_files returns names, types, sizes, who uploaded each file, when, any note and a link to open it in roomwork. File contents are not sent to the AI app.
Are there limits?
Yes. Each command has a per-minute and per-hour limit per connection, listed on this page, and every call is recorded in an audit log.
How do I disconnect?
Remove the connector in your AI app. The connection can also be revoked from roomwork, and the revoke endpoint is part of the standard OAuth discovery.
