Can Roomwork replace Linear for an engineering team?

For a team that wants product execution connected to communication, time, and delivery verification in one place, yes. Teams whose priority is a deeply specialized, engineering-only planning system — with Linear's own cycle graph and capacity tracking, keyboard-driven issue workflows, and product-development-specific AI agents — may prefer Linear's narrower focus. The two are built around different centers of gravity.

Does Roomwork have cycles or sprints like Linear?

Yes, as sprints. A sprint is a time-boxed set of tasks with its own room, a sprint view showing every task with its status and owner, and a hard cutoff date (a Release room, which shares the sprint view, can use a softer target date instead). When a sprint ends you choose what happens to unfinished work: carry it into the next sprint, move it to an existing one, or send it back to the backlog. Roomwork does not have a cycle graph or burn-up layer like Linear's, so teams that rely heavily on cycle charts should weigh that before switching.

Can non-engineering teams use Roomwork the same way?

Yes. Rooms, Jams, tasks, Canvas, and time tracking apply to any project-based team, not only software development. The GitHub and Flaw security/QA layer is most relevant to teams shipping code, but it sits alongside the rest of the workflow rather than being required.

Do we lose our Linear issue history if we switch?

Roomwork does not currently import Linear issues automatically. Most teams keep Linear reachable for historical reference while starting new project work in Roomwork rooms, rather than a single cutover date.
